Puerto
Slick and defiant surf rock duo, Puerto, embodies the sound of the Southern California coast. Renowned for their drugged-out Beach Boy melodies, sun-drenched Dr. Dog pop sensibilities and entrancing rhythms, Puerto has quickly earned themselves a following in the San Diego Music Scene. With their debut album Portugal, Puerto is brandishing their unique surf rock on an international stage.
Zach Polletta’s guitar work spills its way through Duane Eddy reverb, Wes Montgomery jazz voicings, and Santana solos, while Sean Nowland’s drumming parades around Art Blakey furies and Ron Wilson back beats. The two friends formed the band upon returning from a surf trip through southwestern Europe – and they’ve wasted no time in gaining acolytes with supporting bills for the Mattson 2 and Montalban Quintet.
Puerto is featured in Kyle Buthman’s surf video, “Scenic Route to Salinas”, and is working with the Salty Crew for their branding, events and productions.
Their debut album Portugal, recorded and produced by Jordan Andreen, is a modern surf rock record working to blend the genres of jazz, sixties rock, and soul. The album is a sun-drenched classic: a marooning quest to find a coastal refuge, away from broken romanticism, city malaise, and bipolar drug frenzies.
